Speech and Language Screenings
Identifying the Need
Early identification of speech and language delays increases the chances of improving communication skills.
LEAP can help identify the children that are demonstrating delays, and provide them with the support they need to meet their milestones.
Screening Process
Inform
Daycare or preschool providers will send home consent forms to parents with information about LEAP and upcoming dates for screenings. The screenings are optional and complementary.
Screen
The therapist will meet with a child for about 10-15 minutes and may talk to a child’s teacher to obtain additional information about the child’s skills.
Report
The therapist will provide a report indicating no concerns or whether further assessment is needed to rule out a delay. The therapist may follow up with the family to receive additional input for the report.
Support
We can provide direct intervention for children who would benefit from therapy services. For families looking for additional support or alternative options, we provide parent classes on a variety of topics.
